SOFIA BORGES Open Rehearsals
(New York, NY) March/April 2024
Open Rehearsals with Sofia Borges.
Open Rehearsals are a series of weekends during which Borges will unveil the processes involved in creating her latest performance piece: “Rhapsody Of Effacement: A Cave Dance.”
The Rhapsody consists of a sequence of transformations to happen during her next solo show in Vienna, Austria. Each rehearsal in New York City presents an unique stage of the process.
Having choreographers, dancers, musicians and other visual artists as collaborators, the Open Rehearsals aims to be a piece by itself, differently from the Vienna proposition, the photographic works in this version were developed in The Metropolitan Museum of Art. As a further dialogue with The Fridge, the “Performances to Become A Photograph” will be inspired by Japanese Theatre.
Lives and works in New York, USA. Born in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil.
